YUSUF TUNCA1, NECAT İMİRZALIOĞLU1
Gülhane Askeri Tıp Akademisi, Tıbbi Genetik Bilimdalı, ANKARA
Keywords: brain tumors, genetics, gene therapy
Characteristic chromosomal and genetic abnormalities are +7?, -9q, -10?, -17, CDKN2A, CDNKN2B and TP53 gen mutations in glioblastomas; -19?, Dmins, EGFR gene amplifications and rearrangements in oligodendrogliomas; -22 ve NF2 gen mutations in ependimomas; -17p?, Dmins, c-myc and N-myc gen amplifications in medulloblastomas; -22 and NF2 gene mutations in meningiomas and Schwannomas. Gene therapy approaches in brain tumors include transfer of tumor supressor genes and cell cycle modulators, killer or prodrug strategies, immunogene therapy, antiangiogenesis and oncolytic virus therapies.
