THE TREATMENT RESULTS FOR PATIENTS TREATED WITH BREAST CONSERVING SURGERY AND RADIOTHERAPY

Eighty-five patients with breast cancer who underwent conservative surgery and radiotherapy between 1999-2002 were invastigated retrospectively. Sixty-one patients were premenopausal, 24 patients were postmenopausal. Surgical method was wide local exicion in 35 patients, quadrantectomy in 34 patients and tumorectomy in 16 patients. In pathological staging 26 patients were stage I, 38 patients were stage IIA, 15 patients were stage IIB, 6 patients were stage IIIA. Surgical margin was negative in 69 patients, close in 7 patients and positive in 9 patients after surgical excision. Postperative radiotherapy was given in 6 weeks for 36 patients and given after 6 weeks for 51 patients. Radiotherapy dose was 50 Gy after quadrantectomy, 10-16 Gy boost dose was added after tumerectomy and wide local excision. Adjuvant chemotherapy was administered in 67 patients and adjuvant hormonotherapy was administered in 51 patients. Median follow-up time is 24 months. Local recurrence was seen in 1 patient and distant metastases were seen in 3 patients.
