It is aimed in this study to investigate Epstein Barr virus latent membrane protein expression in tumor tissue samples of Turkish Hodgkin's Disease patients and assess its role in etiopathology of disease. It is also programmed to search any correlation between Epstein Barr virus association and some characteristics of the patients. Paraffin embedded tumor tissue samples obtained from 2 different pathology departments. Histopathological diagnosis of all samples were revised. CS1-4 monoclonal antibody and Streptavidin-Biotin Complex-Alkaline phosphatase technique were used for immunohistochemical studies. Thirty four samples were included. There were 14 histological subtypes of nodular sclerosis (41,1 %), 11 of mixed cellularity (32,3 %) and 9 of lymphocytic predominance (26,4 %) among samples. Latent membrane protein expression was demonstrated in the Reed Sternberg cells of 14 of 34 patients (41,1 %). No relation was found between latent membrane protein expression and histological subtypes of Hodgkin s Disease.
