SURVIVAL RESULTS OF THE PATIENTS WITH HIGH GRADE ASTROCYTOMAS

Sixty-six patients with high grade astrocytomas treated between January 1994-December 1998 at the Radiation Oncology Department of Ankara Oncology Hospital were retrospectively analyzed. Nineteen (29%) of the patients were women 47 (71 %) of them were men. Median age was 45 ranging between 24 and 69. Thirty three were grade 111 and 33 were grade IV. Median age of the patients with grade III was 42 and grade IV was 47. Most frequent localisation was frontal lobe (30%). Overall survival of the patients at one year was 55%, median survival was 16 months. Tumor histology and age were the factors effecting survival.
