The tumor suppressor protein p53 plays an important role in protection against the development of cancer and is inactivated in many human malignancies. p53 level must be controlled for the survival of cells, since p53 can arrest cell cycle at G1 when the negative conditions occurs, keeping p53 function under control is critical for the survival of cells. Here. we are showing that pre-treatment of human cervical carcinoma cell line, ME180, with Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) inhibits Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) mediated cytotoxicity by increased c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK kinase) with p53 association and decreased p53 cellular level.
