Keywords: bone marrow transplantation, ocular toxicity
Allogenic or autologous bone marrow (or peripheral stem cell) transplantations are being utilized with increasing frequency in the treatment of various tumors. They are, however, often associated with anterior and posterior segment ocular toxicity. These toxicities are attributed to pancytopenia, graft-versus-host disease, cyclosporine, high dose chemotherapy and total body irradiation. The frequent association of ocular toxicity and the severity of these changes warrant close follow up for detection of ocular disease in this group of patients.
