KIKUCHI-FUJIMOTO DISEASE: HISTIOCYTIC NECROTIZING LYMPHADENITIS

Kukuchi's disease was first seperately described by Kukichi and Fujimoto in 1972. It is characterized by histiocytic necrotising lympadenitis in the cervical region. The disease typically affects young female adults. It is usually a benign self limiting disease, however it is very often misdiagnosed histologically as non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. We present a 23 year old woman with Kikuchi's disease. The case is reported and the current literature is reviewed.
