Ductal carcinoma in-situ (DCIS) is a non-invasive variant of breast cancer, usually diagnosed as an asymptomatic abnormality on a screening mammogram, requires special consideration in its management. As many as 17% of breast malignancies detected by screening are DCIS. Therefore screening has resulted in an apparent increase in the incidence of DCIS. In Turkey screening mammogram is not widely performed but in near future it is hoped to. So it is important for all the medical personel dealing with breast cancer in Turkey, to be familiar with management of DCIS. This review summarizes the basic concepts and controversial issues in the highlight of recent literature.
