Hodgkin's disease (HD) has been reported to develop rarely after Non - Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL). Even the same clonal origin between HD and associated NHLs has been previously reported. Here in, we present a case with stage IV mixed cellular HD who had a diagnosis of splenic marginal zone lymphoma 18 months ago. Case: A sixty - nine year old female patient admitted with the complaints of anorexia, weight loss, and lumbar pain. Eighteen months ago, she underwent splenectomy due to severe pancytopenia associated with hypersplenism. Pancytopenia resolved following the operation and splenic marginal zone lymphoma was diagnosed according to histopathologic evaluation of the splenectomy material. Her physical examination revealed bilateral cervical and left axillary lympadenopathies reaching 4 centimeters in diameter. Axillary lymph node excision was performed and histopathology revealed diffuse infiltration of atypical lymphocytes with Reed - Sternberg cells. Although occurs rarely, this case reminds that HD disease can develop in patients with previous diagnosis of NHL.
