nm23 gene and nucleoside diphosphate kinase(NDPK) which is the product of this gene were investigated largely on several experimental cell lines and tumors itself. The results showed that, although in some tumor types it was be able to prevent metastasis, in other tumors it seems to be related with bad prognosis. In this study, we investigated nm23 mRNA expression in 9 acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), 12 acute myelogenous leukemia (AML), 11 chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) and 10 chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) patients. 18 out of 42 was male and mean age was 44 (12-72). We observed nm23-H1, nm23-H2 and 6-actin mRNA expression in all patient groups. In conclusion, quantitative analysis of nm23 mRNA expression should be done for determining the prognostic significance of this gene in leukemia patients.
